Why do you use Frontier? That's a personal question, but most people's answers will probably include the phrases "it saves me a lot of time" and "it gives me the ability to do more with my computer". That time and ability can have a profound effect on people's lives -- something often overlooked.

What has Frontier meant to you? Are you closer to your goals and dreams? Is it making life or work more enjoyable or easier, through saved time or added success in your career? If you have deployed Frontier at a customer's site, what has it meant to them?

Script Meridian would like to hear about your experiences with Frontier, and/or the experiences of your customers, and how it has made a difference.

If you'd like to share, please e-mail us at feedback@scriptmeridian.org.

Thanks!

"Could you take Frontier and use it to run news.com, or c-net, or zdnn? Is Jason using Frontier this way at SI? He's a high profile client, and I'm curious about how they're using Frontier..." (more)

"...Frontier offers a mature, comprehensive development environment that is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. I've written thousands of lines of Frontier code and saved companies thousands of hours of labour and millions of dollars in costs." (more)

"...By the way, the "Communications Server" I mentioned initially was no more than an old Macintosh IIfx that was sitting unused in a corner! All I had to was put an ethernet card in it, install an OS and put Frontier (and the scripts) on it." (more)

"I first started using Frontier a few years ago when Dave released it for free as Aretha. I had been working a bit with AppleScript, mostly as a way to do CGIs for MacHTTP, but really longed for something faster and maybe a bit more powerful..." (more)

"Why do I use Frontier? Because I would be absolutely crazy not to. It would drive me around the bend to go back to doing all this by hand, or worse, force myself into some wysiwyg piece of garbage that generates ugly/bad markup but gives me at least a little control over site management tasks." (more)

"Not everyone wants, or needs, to be a geek. I, in fact, consider myself only a part-time geek. Yet with Frontier, I've been able to do all sorts of powerful, geek-like things with my Macintosh." (more)

"I've been working with Frontier for about a month. I wish I had persevered when I dabbled with Frontier a year ago, I could have been so much more productive when I began my new job..." (more)

"I bring it to your attention because it's versatile, practical, economical, has useful suites of programs already written, has a warm community of helpful users, and is available for both Windows and Macintosh users." (more)

" first used Frontier 1.0 back in January 1991. I recognized early on the ability to use Apple Events to control computers even across the network or across an AppleTalk Remote Access (ARA) connection..." (more)

"Quite simply Frontier saves me that most precious commodity - time. The sites the I develop are built by one person - me ;-) Without the scripting power of Frontier I wouldn't even attempt to undertake, for example, the type of navigation links that I use on my pages." (more)

"Right from the beginning, the Frontier application saved me 2 1/2 hours every publication day. That was good enough for me. At that point there were even some enhancements to the site like a Back Issues page with several of its own features. Jim, also included a headline table matrix to improve navigation. I manually published this version on one occassion and it took 5 hours..." (more)
